citta ideale (work in progress)
An archive of photographs featuring antique Greek and Roman architecture established during a trip to Turkey,
Greece and Southern Italy serves as a basis for the construction of this image, which is inspired by the genre of
veduta painting. The design for this pseudo-virtual, ideal cityscape is based on
”citta ideale”(Luciano Laurana, from the late 15th Century,
Galleria Nazionale del Marche, Urbino).
The individual photographs of monuments from the archive were digitally deconstructed in order to be ”re-erected”
according to the laws of central perspective.

This picture references the genre of British and Flemish marine paintings of the 17th century. It was created during an artist residence in Auckland, New Zealand.
